We're Off!
No pics yet for this adventure. We have a week off of school (haven't completely figured out why), so we're flying to a province about an hour or two flight south of us. We haven't figured out how long the flight is either. Let's just say this will be an exprience. We're flying into Fuzhou, taking a bus to a city known for their beautiful scenery and beaches, then bussing back up to a middle city, then back to Fuzhou to fly out. I have a notebook full of Chinese script for me to point and look confused:) John and I also brushed up on some traveling words with our Chinese language partners this week. It'll be great practice for our Chinese - forced to figure it out. If you want to see a map and more details of where we're going, check out John's blog page: from-shanghai.blogspot.com. Hope to hear from you all when we get back!! Have a great week!

The Fabric Market
Here we are on the ferry going from Pudong to Puxi. Shanghai is divided into two main parts, we live on the Pudong side, across the river is Puxi. Our weekly trip to Puxi consists mainly of shopping at the "fabric market". This has been a hot spot for us tall ones. You could say it's a dream come true, we walk into this 4 story building and go from booth to booth looking at the clothes options. Once we see something we like, we barter for a good price, choose the material, and go back in a week for the finished product. So far...so good!!!

Back Again!
Ni Hao! It's been quite some time since I've even looked at my blog. But, hey...back in Asia...why not continue it. Especially now that John's doing one as well - I need to keep up. So, we're in Shanghai, China! Married, teaching, and loving every day of it. We really have had such a great experience thus far and we look forward to everything God has in store for the year.
We're teaching at a bilingual company school called SMIC Private School. SMIC is a computer chip manufacturing company with over 20,000 employees. One of the largest in China. Five years ago the school began as an Elementary school and has grown into a K-12 school with over 1200 students. John is teaching ninth and tenth grade honors English, and I'm teaching first grade. I have 20 adorable kids in my class and am having such a fun time being head teacher of the department and finally being in charge of my own classroom. All of my students are ESL students being totally emerged into an English environment. That makes things a little more interesting and new for me, but I know it will be great experience for when I teach back in the states. I already could share so many stories. Thankfully for most of you, this site is optional to read. I know how it can get annoying to hear the silly stories from school from teachers - so you can choose:) I look forward to updating you also on how our Father is working in our lives and in those around us, as well as the adventures our travels bring us on. Until then...hope you're all doing well and if I haven't heard from you...please e-mail!
